Myrrh Tincture may be prepared as follows.
Myrrh 1 part
Ethanol (90 Per Cent) 5 parts
Mix. Filter if necessary.
Dose Topical, 1 mL, paint or dab on the affected area(s) 2 to 3 times a day. Do not dilute the tincture.
Identification Carry out the test as described in the “Thin-Layer Chromatography” (Appendix 3.1).
Standard solution, Adsorbent, Mobile phase, Application, Development and drying, Detection, and Result Proceed as directed in the Identification under Myrrh.
Test solution Dilute 5 mL of the tincture to 10 mL with ethanol, sonicate for 10 minutes and filter.
Ethanol content 82 to 88 per cent v/v (Appendix 6.5).
Total solids Not less than 4.0 per cent w/w (Appendix 7.21).
Other requirements Complies with the requirements described under “Tinctures”(Appendix 1.16).
