Category  Carminative, antispasmodic.

 Asafoetida, bruised          200 g
 Ethanol (70 Per Cent) sufficient to produce 1000 mL
 Macerate Asafoetida in a closed vessel with 750 mL of Ethanol (70 Per Cent) for 7 days, shaking occasionally, filter, and pass sufficient Ethanol (70 Per Cent) through the filter to produce the required volume.

Dose  Topical, 1 mL.

Other relevant information  Large doses should be avoided in very young infants.

Weight per milliliter  0.915 g to 0.995 g (Appendix 4.9).

Ethanol content  60 to 65 per cent v/v (Appendix 6.5).

Other requirements  Complies with the requirements described under “Tinctures” (Appendix 1.16).
